Our return from vacation was cut short a bit due to cancellations due to the first winter storm of the year. (Note: Valid for events from January 1st to 7th)

Men's Basketball (9-2)

The Tigers officially have their longest winning streak in over 15 years, accumulating two wins to start the new year and leading ADM to nine straight wins. Although the two teams weren't particularly close, they helped propel the team to third place in the state rankings.

ADM started off with a 74-50 victory over Carlisle Gym, with Hudson Lorensen and Adam Bright each scoring 17 points. Lorenzen moved up another notch by scoring a new record 29 points in Friday's home game against Winterset (4-5), which went from 9-8 in the second quarter to 80-60. . Rylan Stein-Smith also contributed to the win with a career-high 11 assists. Only 10 other players in Class 3A have recorded double-digit assists in a game this season.

Women's Basketball (4-8)

The ADM girls came out of the break to start conference play in earnest, falling to 2-5 with losses to Carlisle and Winterset at Raccoon River.

On Jan. 2, the Tigers lost 60-49 to No. 12 Carlisle (6-3), a game marred by a dominant first half by the Wildcats. After halftime, AMD recovered and outscored the hosts 34-26, but that was it. Kelly Stoke led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers, who returned home Friday for a Perry-centric night, held off the visiting Huskies (4-5) in the first quarter, but lost 42-31, their second straight loss.

Due to school being canceled on Tuesday, the team's road game against Carroll (5-on-5) was postponed to Thursday. Carroll has won five of its past six games, most recently losing to Carlisle 54-43.

The biggest boosts on the scoreboard went to Ethan Johnson (132 pounds) and John Hatchit (175 pounds), who finished second in their class with a 2-1 record after a first-round bye. . Hatchit was able to maintain his team lead with 19 wins at the end of the day, despite facing opponents with better season win records than they started the day with.

Grayson Sutter (138) had one of his busiest days, fighting through six rounds. After winning three consecutive games in the loser's bracket, their record is 4 wins and 2 losses. He placed fourth on the day, bringing his season record to 16 wins and 14 losses, joining Johnson and Hatchit as team representatives with the winning mark. Sutter finished the day in fourth place.

Originally scheduled for two contests, Monday's Ballard Invitational was canceled, but the RRW women will head to La Crosse, Wisconsin to compete in the Crash National Duals on Saturday and Sunday, where the team will compete in the surrounding area. They won 6-0 against teams from around the state and were named the 2024 Clash Champions.

In the winning match, Kalista Rodish (weighing 124 pounds) was one of six female athletes to record six pins, spending 4 minutes and 49 seconds on the mat to win all of her matches and earn an honorable mention. He won the Wrestler Award.
